A Clean, Bright and Healthy Smile
Great oral health starts with keeping your teeth and gums clean and free of bacteria, plaque, tartar and other buildup. That’s why we encourage consistent and regularly scheduled dental cleanings at least twice a year. At Broad St Smiles, we have several experienced Registered Dental Hygienists who are skilled, gentle & friendly.
During these visits the hygienist will examine and evaluate the health of your mouth, teeth and gums. Once the examination is complete, the hygienist will use the latest techniques, including the Cavitron, an ultrasonic device designed to clean and polish teeth and remove calculus, stains, and plaque. We use a gentle touch and anesthetics if needed to ensure that you are comfortable during every cleaning. You’ll leave your hygiene visit knowing that your smile is healthy and with your teeth feeling smooth, polished and gleaming!
In addition, Dr. Fitch recommends the following for home oral hygiene care:
* Brush your teeth at least twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste
* Clean between your teeth with either dental floss or an electric hydrofloss daily
* Eat healthy foods, limit sugar and carbohydrate intake and avoid soda pop!
* Dr. Fitch also recommends using an electric toothbrush at least once a day because it reduces the levels of plaque and gum disease more effectively
Not only does good oral health prevent bad breath, tooth decay and gum disease; it is good for your whole body. A healthy mouth = a healthy body. Problems in your mouth can cause disease in other parts of your body including heart disease and dementia.
